Dunedin Consort: Bach's Italy
The Dundedin Consort, directed by John Butt, perform Italian concertos by JS Bach, Corelli and Vivaldi.
Johann Sebastian Bach may never have actually visited Italy but he certainly made the journey in music. An avid consumer and transcriber of his Italian colleagues he took up their musical inspiration in his own compositions. This concert brings that interest to life as the Edinburgh-based Dundedin Consort perform glittering and heart-breaking Italian concertos to set the stage for Bach’s Double Concerto which showcases virtuosic and tender solo performances by two of Dunedin Consort's finest musicians.
Recorded at The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on September 25th, 2025.
Arcangelo Corelli: Concerto Grosso, Op. 6 No. 7
Antonio Vivaldi: Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, RV 514
