Breaking Point: The Sassnitz Miracle
Crashes, injuries, and a record-breaking storm push SailGP crews to the edge, before a miracle repair and comeback lead France's Quentin Delapierre to a stunning victory in Sassnitz.
In the most extreme wind conditions SailGP has ever faced, chaos erupts during practice at the inaugural German Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz. France's F50 suffers a catastrophic rudder failure at almost 100 kmh, sending driver Quentin De La Pierre crashing violently into the cockpit - injured and barely conscious as his pregnant partner watches on. Moments later, the Brazilian boat shatters into three pieces.
With stronger winds predicted, tensions mount. SailGP CEO Russell Coutts gives teams the choice to race or cancel. They choose to sail. Team USA collides with Emirates GBR, nearly sinking them.
Overnight, SailGP's tech team pulls off a miraculous repair, grafting wreckage from USA's hull onto GBR's. By morning, the boat limps to the start line. Against all odds, GBR reaches the final alongside Australia and a resurrected French team - now with a recovered Quentin at the helm.
In a breathtaking showdown, lead changes fly until Quentin finds one final gust to power Team France to victory - completing one of the greatest comeback stories in SailGP history.
