Inferno in the Fields and the Fight to Save Badgers

Episode 2 of 15

Firefighters and farmers tackle Bedfordshire field fires, rescue crews respond to a horse in danger, and Paul Colgan helps volunteers protect wildlife from illegal badger baiters.

In Bedfordshire, a scorching summer’s day turns to chaos when flames rip through the countryside. Farmers and firefighters join forces in a desperate battle to contain a fast-moving field fire threatening homes and livelihoods. With dramatic footage filmed by farmer and YouTuber George Saunders, we hear first-hand from those who faced the blaze – including the crews who risked everything to stop it from spreading.

In Leicestershire, a beloved horse is in danger after plunging into a freezing swimming pool. As panic rises, a specialist fire and rescue team race to rescue it with the help of a local farmer, before it’s too late.

Meanwhile, reporter Paul Colgan is in Northern Ireland, to meet volunteers behind Operation Brockwatch – a ground-breaking scheme using hidden cameras to protect badgers from ruthless illegal hunters.
