Gorillas are one of our closest animal relatives. These lowland gorillas live in the rainy jungles of central Africa. They live in big troops and spend a lot of their day eating shoots, fruit, leaves and bark. In each troop there are several females and their babies and one big adult male who is known as a silverback. He protects the troop.
