Plantation: Religion and Architecture
Most of the 17th century Planters brought their Protestant religion with them to Ireland, with many Presbyterians fleeing to Ulster to avoid religious persecution in Scotland.
The new settlements led to land clearance and to new towns and stone houses being built, which were very different to the thatch huts of the native Irish. (Broadcast: 21/01/1992)
