Bromyard Bridgnorth and Pershore have all got their own jazz festivals coming up.
Since August seems to be the month for many jazz festivals we certainly have a lot of them happening in the Midlands and within an easy distance.
Brecon starts on Friday and so does the much smaller, but just as interesting Bridgnorth. The following weekend, there’s Pershore and Bromyard and this week we shall hear from chairman Graham Smith and young reed player Amy Roberts. Amy will be appearing again at Pershore and there’ll be more from Amy, with more of her music, next week on the show.
There’s also a list of superb bands ranging from the superb Side By Slide through Dave Brubeck and Gerry Mulligan to a new tracks from singer Georgina Jackson, who used to be called Georgina Bromilow.
There’s also a chance to sample Richard Leach, Trevor Emeny and a new one from Northern Ireland’s Linley Hamilton. If you’re an Ella Fitzgerald fan, I have a question for you.
