There’s a new album from a singer and sax player who is destined for great things. A J (Alexander) Brown has a great deal of talent and his new album shows him to be an excellent singer as well as a stunning instrumentalist. He has proved himself as a member of the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra and we’ll have a track from his new album on the show. There’s another listen to that wonderful Alan Barnes, Liz Fletcher sideways look at jazz from the ‘Seven Ages Of Jazz’ CD. The words written by the late Alan Plater, the music arranged by Alan Barnes and played by him with a cast of the finest British musicians. Liz Fletcher is the singer. Also, we’ll have a singer turned bandleader and arranger. Harry Connick Jr, arranging and leading a superb big band and also adding a few notes on the piano. We shall also hear about plans to stage the second Congleton Jazz and Blues Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend from some of those involved in setting it up and booking the bands.
