Formation of nitrogen dioxide using the Ostwald Process
A description of the Ostwald Process of creating nitrogen dioxide by combining ammonia with oxygen. Nitrogen dioxide is created by heating the ammonia and oxygen gases in the presence of a platinum catalyst. The reaction is exothermic, so once the reaction has started, further heat does not need to be added.
