Using reflex action to test an unconscious person's senses
A description of the sensory tests that can be carried out to determine whether a patient is alive or dead. Pupil dilation and a blink reaction occur when the brain is alive. Pressing on the fingers and toes can test the sense of touch, while touching the tongue and mouth can be used to check for a swallow or gag reaction.
