What was the earliest inhabited place in Ireland?
Mount Sandel Fort is a good example of an early settlement in Ireland. In 1973, archaeologists discovered the foundations of wooden huts, fireplaces, and the remains of last meals. Radio carbon dating is explained in simple terms and is used to help date the fragments of food found at Mount Sandel. Computer generated images help build up a picture of what the settlement might have looked like.
