A combined heart and lung transplant is shown with reference to the cardiovascular system. The lungs and heart of a road accident victim are shown being transplanted into a patient. Blood vessels and the windpipe are connected causing the new lungs to start to move. The heart is defibrillated to start it beating. The transplant patient's healthy heart is then transplanted into the body of a heart attack victim. In turn, healthy valves from this diseased heart can be transplanted into other patients.
