Rhythms of 'Stomp' revealed
An illustrated insight into the thinking and processes behind Stomp's innovative work. Original company member Theseus Gerard provides an explanation of his role. This is illustrated by short excerpts from the 'Stomp' repertoire. We see how props such as brushes are manipulated to create sound and movement. Gerard highlights the creation and use of rhythm as the focus of their work. Two 'Stomp' trainees assist in explaining how syncopation and layering can make a 4:4 rhythm much more complex and how the choreography itself grows from the rhythms.
