Debate: What next for Leicester?

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leicester held a one hour-long debate at Curve into “What Next for Leicester?"

We can reveal this morning that high-level talks are being held between Leicestershire's two biggest councils about merging their museum services.

The leader of Leicestershire County Council, Nick Rushton, told a special ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leicester debate last night that he and the city's mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby, are discussing whether to bring their museum services together.

The county council used to run all museum services across both city and county until Leicester went its own way as a unitary authority in 1997.

Now , some 16 years later, there could be a single service again.

This was just one of a number of fascinating revelations to come out of our special debate held at Leicester's Curve theatre.

A week on from the city's failed bid to become the Uk's next City of Culture, we brought together an invited audience to ask "What's next for Leicester?".
