The Failed Royal Kidnapping of Princess Anne
Forty years ago in March 1974 a lone gunman tried to kidnap Princess Anne, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II. Jim Beaton was the royal protection officer travelling with the princess at the time. He was shot three times during the failed kidnap attempt close to Buckingham Palace.
