Walking the plank? Probably not...
Did the Caribbean in the early 18th century ring to cries of "Shiver me timbers!" as pirates like Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, plied their trade?
Probably not according to Colin Woodward the author of 'The Republic of Pirates'.
From his research Woodward says there is no evidence that walking the plank was commonplace.
