Gym expert: Using garden trampolines should come with training
Adults should learn how to use trampolines to avoid accidents
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) says garden trampolines are responsible for a huge number of injuries, some of them very serious. ROSPA says that more than half the sports-related injuries among children come from trampolines and think families should be more aware of the danger.
Today is joined by John Beer, former British gymnastic technical director, and international trampolinist and The Telegraph's columnist Lucy Cavendish.
"They are very dangerous I've seen all sorts of bad accidents...it's the adults that are the problem bouncing the children all over the place", said Ms Cavendish.
'Don't put adults with children on trampoline, that's when problems happen'.
John Beer, international trampolinist said: 'Trampolines in the garden are not supervised...the person who buys the trampoline should go on training'.
'You wouldn't build a swimming pool and pick your children up and throw them in so why not train adults to use trampoline'.
'It's a great exercise, ten minutes of trampolining is the equivalent of doing a 30 minute run'.
