Ebola survivor: I overheard medics discuss my burial
A Liberian doctor who contracted Ebola says he was so close to death that he overheard medics discussing plans for his burial.
Dr Philip Zochonis Ireland said he was on “death’s bed” and "gasping" for air when he was rushed to hospital.
He said, “Some of the clinicians thought I was going to die. I overheard them talking at one point whether I should be taken with the burial team or go to cremation”.
So far, the Ebola virus has claimed around 7,000 lives during the current epidemic in West Africa.
