A mother who is campaigning for black history to be part of the primary curriculum says it is important children learn about the 鈥減ositive side of black history鈥�.

Mum-of-four Stephanie Pitter said pupils should learn about the achievements of black scientists, entrepreneurs, activists and artists 鈥� 鈥渘ot only enslavement鈥�.

Ms Pitter said, 鈥淏lack history is very relevant to all children. Racism is still a very high profile thing that鈥檚 out there today and we need to realise black history is a beautiful thing鈥�.

Her petition to the government has had over 43,000 signatures so far.
