A mother who is campaigning for black history to be part of the primary curriculum says it is important children learn about the “positive side of black history”. Mum-of-four Stephanie Pitter said pupils should learn about the achievements of black scientists, entrepreneurs, activists and artists – “not only enslavement”. Ms Pitter said, “Black history is very relevant to all children. Racism is still a very high profile thing that’s out there today and we need to realise black history is a beautiful thing”. Her petition to the government has had over 43,000 signatures so far. This clip is originally from Up All Night on Monday 9 February 2015.
