Gillespie on England Job: ’I had nothing to lose and everything to gain’
Jason Gillespie says he was “flattered” to be considered for England’s head coach role.
Speaking to Phil Tufnell, Michael Vaughan and Mark Chapman, the former Aussie cricketer said: “From a personal point of view I saw it as a massive positive. I was flattered to be thought of highly enough to be spoken about in that role. I saw it as a win-win.”
“I never felt for one minute I had anything to lose. I had everything to gain.”
When asked whether Kevin Pietersen was raised an issue, Gillespie replied: “No it wasn’t. The stance was made very clear over what was going to happen. Categorically that wasn’t an issue.”
But the big question: England or Australia to win the Ashes?
The 40-year-old took his time before saying Australia.
