5 Live In ShortAvailable for over a year
Jason Gillespie says he was “flattered” to be considered for England’s head coach role. Speaking to Phil Tufnell, Michael Vaughan and Mark Chapman, the former Aussie cricketer said: “From a personal point of view I saw it as a massive positive. I was flattered to be thought of highly enough to be spoken about in that role. I saw it as a win-win.” “I never felt for one minute I had anything to lose. I had everything to gain.” When asked whether Kevin Pietersen was raised an issue, Gillespie replied: “No it wasn’t. The stance was made very clear over what was going to happen. Categorically that wasn’t an issue.” But the big question: England or Australia to win the Ashes? The 40-year-old took his time before saying Australia. The clip is originally from 5 live Sport: Tuffers & Vaughan on Monday 1 June 2015.
