With Bach themes handed to him on-the-spot, Thierry Escaich evokes two aspects of the improviser鈥檚 art: first, to take a pre-determined form or language as a point of departure and try to find complete freedom of expression within its constraints. Second, to create an improvisation that sounds as if it could have been written down without sacrificing the flowing energy of improvisation.
