Part of Leicester for 40 years, staff at Bobby's restaurant in Leicester have cause to celebrate...
The forced exodus of Indians from Uganda to Leicester in 1972 included Mr Bhagwanjibhai and Mrs Manglaben Lakhani, the founders of Bobby's. Mr Lakhani, with his innate flair for business, recognised both his wife's considerable talents in the kitchen and the need for an authentic, pure vegetarian Gujarati dining experience for the newly established Indian community in Leicester.
Launched on Valentines Day 40 years ago and still going strong, staff and customers celebrated yesterday and Rupal Rajani found met them in search of their story...
