'Hungarian teachers were a passive lot. But now things are changing'
Hungarian social media is full of photos of teachers and pupils wearing check shirts. They are protesting against a slur by a former education secretary who said "unshaven teachers in check shirts at demonstrations" do not set a good example for children. The photos are the latest in a series of protests by Hungarian teachers over poor working conditions and the government's drive to centralise education. Budapest teacher David Ongjerth has told us the protest is escalating.
