If you listened to Ben Jackson's show a couple of weeks ago, you might have heard him rootling about in the Wigston record office in search of ancient manuscripts that still have things to teach us about where we live today.

It's part of the remarkable Charnwood Roots project that is aiming to gather as much information about the area's past as possible, often by picking up on people's own stories and memories.

Anyway, after finding some old maps in the archive we popped over to Rothley to see what they could tell us today.
