The business case for organic farming
Organic farming, where farms choose not to use most chemicals, and maintain particularly high standards of animal welfare, is apparently celebrating its best year in almost a decade. That's according to official US Government statistics, which say there are now 22,000 organic farms in the United States, and more than 31,000 worldwide. So, what's the business case for going organic? Alex Ritson went for a tour of Courtyard Farm in Norfolk, in the east of England, owned by one of Britain's organic pioneers, Peter Melchett.
