Holly and Axel - Aftershock

Holly and and Axel were 6 weeks into their 3 month travelling trip and were hiking in the Langtang Valley in Nepal when the earthquake struck. They had to shelter behind a tree to protect themselves from an avalanche. Travelling down the mountain they crossed a landslide and had to spend a night on the mountain in a makeshift shelter, fearing every aftershock was going to cause further landslides or rock falls. They were airlifted by helicopter the following day. From the air, they saw the extent of the devastation: villages virtually wiped out and roads blocked by the falling rocks. Back in Kathmandu, they found much of the capital destroyed and had to spend another night outdoors fearing buildings would not be safe. It was two days before they were able to let their families know they were safe. They are both still feeling the effects of the experience and are very keen to do as much as they can to help the people of Nepal.
