Michael McGough has resigned from the UKIP鈥檚 ruling body over the leadership vote, after Steven Woolfe MEP did not make it to the shortlist.

Mr McGough said there had been unhappiness "building up for some time" in the party, and Mr Woolfe was "very popular with the membership", but he had been barred from standing after a computer glitch.

Mr McGough told the World at One's Martha Kearney that the handling of the vote could be "life or death" for UKIP, which was facing a "fight for survival", as he called for reform within the party.
