India's outgoing central bank governor defends his record and says any criticism of the government was conveyed through private channels.
One of the world's most high profile central bankers is about to return to academia. Raghuram Rajan, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India built a reputation for being outspoken on issues that sometimes went beyond the economy - and this resulted in criticism from some politicians who felt he was too critical of government policy. So did this play a part in Mr Rajan not signing on for a second term? Sameer Hashmi met him in Mumbai and asked just that.
