Melvyn Bragg: Orwell 'told the truth to history'
George Orwell is returning to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, 73 years after he left the organisation acrimoniously, in the form of a statue thanks to the funding of private donors.
In 1943 he told the organisation his work was wasting "public money on doing work that produces no result".
Melvyn Bragg, one of the donors, told Martha Kearney that Orwell's Animal Farm drew a picture of the world which we can now see before our eyes: "Putin is living in Animal Farm."
