On Tuesday, French police confronted a woman on a beach and made her remove some of her clothing as part of a ban on the burkini.

Mayors in several French towns have banned the wearing of burkinis, which cover the body and head, citing concerns about religious clothing in the wake of recent terrorist killings in the country.

Mathilde Cousin was at the beach and told Edward Stourton what she saw.
