Are Mills and Boon novels works of feminism?
Val Derbyshire from Sheffield University argues that some of the Mills and Boon books should be taken seriously as feminist texts.
To give you a taste of their content, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4 newsreader Kathy Clugston reads some extracts.
Speaking to Edward Stourton, Ms Derbyshire said there was much more to the books than "escapist romance", describing them as a "literary of protest".
