Ruth Madoc on Jimmy Perry: 'Oh he was lovely'
Jimmy Perry, creator of one of TV's most popular comedy series, Dad's Army, has died aged 93.
Working with producer David Croft, he was also responsible for It Ain't Half Hot Mum, You Rang M'Lord? and Hi-de-Hi.
Actress Ruth Madoc played Gladys Pugh in the series which ran for eight years. She first met Jimmy Perry when they worked together in the theatre and says he was a "lovely man" and a "joy".
Speaking to 5 live she recalled her memory of working with him on a "wonderful" pantomime, when due to lack of money that had to mock up what should have been an impressive water display using tin baths.
