                Police swap notebooks for smartphones
A constable producing his notebook and pencil to take someone's details could be soon be a thing of the past, as Essex Police spends £2m issuing £1,800 frontline officers with smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phones will be used to file crime reports, watch live CCTV feeds, and take pictures of suspects and crime scenes.
But going digital means the traditional police notebook, used since the very earliest days of policing, is no longer needed.
