The ‘disgraceful’ Christmas tree which caused a community ‘uproar’
In 2014, the people of Micklehurst in Manchester were confronted with a Christmas tree which was so short that it was declared Britain's worst one. The Mayor of Mossley Gregg Brett told 5 live Drive there was “uproar in the community” over the five foot tall tree, which was named ‘Terry.’
“Everyone couldn’t believe it, it was a disgrace.”
The residents then took matters into their own hands, putting up their own tree and having a ‘rogue switch on.’
It comes after Cardiff’s Christmas tree, which was on its way from China, measured 40 foot tall rather than the 40 metres (131 ft) that was expected.
