The ‘disgraceful’ Christmas tree which caused a community ‘uproar’

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

In 2014, the people of Micklehurst in Manchester were confronted with a Christmas tree which was so short that it was declared Britain's worst one. The Mayor of Mossley Gregg Brett told 5 live Drive there was “uproar in the community” over the five foot tall tree, which was named ‘Terry.’ “Everyone couldn’t believe it, it was a disgrace.” The residents then took matters into their own hands, putting up their own tree and having a ‘rogue switch on.’ It comes after Cardiff’s Christmas tree, which was on its way from China, measured 40 foot tall rather than the 40 metres (131 ft) that was expected. This clip is originally from 5 live Drive on 28 November 2016.
