Southern Rail has told people they should not try to travel on Tuesday, because of a strike by the unions
Aslef and the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT), who are due to walk out for three days in a dispute over driver-only trains.

Southern's parent company Govia Thameslink has asked the Court of Appeal to overturn a High Court refusal to ban the strike action.

RMT's Paul Cox tells Radio 4's The World at One his members are "not traditionally radical or militant people" but have been forced to take this action to maintain the safety of the railways, a claim disputed by Govia Thameslink.
