Tackling counter-extremism
Is the UK government's "Prevent" strategy working?
The Westminster Hour's John Beesley hears from parents, teachers and community leaders on efforts to tackle radicalisation, from Islamic extremism to that of the far-right.
Alex Kenny, a teacher from the NUT union, says that the programme was stifling discussion on certain topics in schools: "We've picked up Muslim parents and young Muslim people thinking 'I don't want to discuss that in school because I don't know what will happen'".
He added: "In those circumstances our fear is that we then abandon children to the internet or the very forces we are trying to keep them away from if we are not taking the opportunity to debate and challenge and educate them".
