Engineering prize for 'camera on a chip' inventor
The inventor of what has come to be known as the "camera on a chip" has won The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.
Professor Eric Fossum's breakthrough made it possible to put cameras in phones and other portable devices.
He told Martha Kearney that he is "somewhat astonished that it is so widespread and so heavily embraced around the world."
