A zoo in Cumbria has failed to have its licence renewed after inspectors criticised the way animals were looked after.

Simon King, the award winning wildlife filmmaker and presenter of the 蜜芽传媒 series Big Cat Diary says visits to his local zoo in Bristol as a young boy encouraged him to work with lions.

The presenter told the World at One that he had worked amongst creatures in captivity who led "very good lives".
