Lord Heseltine: I have never met Theresa May
Lord Heseltine, sacked as a government adviser after rebelling over Brexit plans, says he’s never met Theresa May.
He told 5 live Breakfast: “We might have been in the same room but I’ve never had a conversation that I remember with her.â€
Lord Heseltine was called back from dinner to the House of Lords to be sacked after backing an amendment to have a ‘meaningful’ vote in Parliament on the final terms of Brexit.
He said: “The [Conservative] party is deeply divided, the country is deeply divided.
“48% voted to remain, particularly young people. I think they have to have a voice and there’s nothing you can do in a parliamentary democracy to stifle that.â€
