SNP: To reject Scotland from EU goes against 'European ideals'
The Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that a second Scottish independence referendum will be held between Autumn 2018 and Spring 2019.
The Scottish National Party's Stephen Gethins, MP for North East Fife, told Martha Kearney that by Autumn 2018 or Spring 2019, they would have a "clearer idea" of the deal the UK had negotiated with the European Union, so people in Scotland would be able to make an informed choice.
Mr Gethins said that Scotland was a "net contributor" to the European Union and has "met all of the rules" for EU membership, so to reject Scotland from EU membership would "go against European ideals".
