'No plans' for Unite to affiliate with Momentum
Unite's acting general secretary, Gail Cartmail, has said there are "no plans" for the Unite union to affiliate with Momentum.
Momentum's Jon Lansman was reportedly taped saying that if Len McCluskey was re-elected as Unite general secretary, the union would affiliate to his group rather than just to Labour.
Ms Cartmail told Martha Kearney that there had been "no conversations and no proposal" about this affiliation.
She described Labour deputy leader Tom Watson's intervention - where he said the "plot" between Unite and Momentum could destroy the Labour party - as "an interference in the democracy of Unite".
