Wife of Marine A says husband is free to re-join Marines
The wife of Marine A said the most significant decision was for her husband was to be dismissed without disgrace.
Claire Blackman told 5 live: “The most significant decision for us yesterday was that he was dismissed, not dismissed with disgrace, that was the hardest part of the original sentence to bear.â€
“He maintains his Sergeants rank and a dismissal means, should he wish to, he could re-apply to rejoin the royal marines.â€
Sergeant Alexander Blackman has been in prison for three and a half years for the murder of a wounded Taliban fighter.
His original conviction for murder was reduced to manslaughter after a high profile campaign.
He has now been sentenced on a lesser charge and because of time already served it is thought he will be released shortly.
