The solicitor for Ian Brady has said the Moors Murderer probably didn’t know the location of one of his victims, Keith Bennett.
Brady never revealed where Keith's remains were buried. The boy's mother Winnie Johnson, who died in 2012, had repeatedly pleaded for Brady to do so.
Robin Makin who was Ian Brady's lawyer for the past 25 years told Nicky Campbell on 5 live’s Your Call:
“I don’t think Ian Brady had the information that would have assisted. He did what he could when he wanted to in the 1980s.â€
Solicitor David Kirwan who represented Winnie Johnson and met Brady in prison, said:
“My perception is that Brady absolutely enjoyed all the attention of the media and a lot of this was to stir up that attention and to encourage it. I don’t think it upset him at all. I think he lived off it...it kept him going."
"I think it was the appalling cruelty to these five children that stood out most of all and that's what has been the enduring factor in the psyche of this nation. It’s something that's not going to disappear, even with his death.â€
