NFL protest: First white player 'takes a knee'
Seth DeValve became the first white National Football League player to join black colleagues in kneeling during the US national anthem, in protest at racism.
President Trump recently provoked outrage when he suggested that players who failed to stand during the US anthem should be sacked.
Seth's wife Erica Harris DeValve, who is African American, told Radio 4's World at One that her husband had wanted to "take the knee" to support his black team mates, and she hoped that his involvement did not "distract people from the real reason for the protest which is about racial injustice in this country".
