Gambia: How illegal fishing is destroying livelihoods
The government of The Gambia is is trying to make the fishing industry a bigger part of the economy. But while fishing provides a precious source of income for many people, the illegal activity of foreign trawlers entering poorly-controlled waters and fishing without permission has created problems. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Joshua Thorpe reports on the consequences this has had for the livelihoods of local fishermen.
