The Legacy of 'A Christmas Carol'
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the story of Scrooge, Bob Cratchit - and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. Published in 1843, when Queen Victoria was on the throne, "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens is responsible for creating a lot of the traditions now regarded as integral to the most widely-celebrated Christian festival. The book was heavily influenced by the economic conditions of its time, as the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Anu Anand has been finding out.
