The person who wrote one of the most famous England anthems is in Tenbury Wells tonight.

Ian Broudie, of the Lightning Seeds, is performing at the Tenbury Music Festival - which is raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Three Lions was originally released in 1996 and Brodie told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Hereford & Worcester that he rarely performs the song in public, comparing it to a Christmas record, but it will be the centrepiece of his set this evening.

Under A Banner have been making powerful, passionate and poetic alternative rock for more than six years.

The last couple of years has seen the band support New Model Army; have their music be played on dozens of online and FM radio stations; be featured in multiple blogs and magazines while taking the festival circuit by storm.

Taking influence fromÌýThe Levellers, Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, the members of Under A Banner are scattered across the Midlands, including Worcester, and during the day work in teaching and computing.

This year they extended the festival to three days - so on the Sunday, we were there hosting a stage dedicated to Herefordshire and Worcestershire artists chosen from the .

The event, run by a group of volunteers, is paid for by ticket sales alone.

Since the beginning of 2011, we've taken our ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Introducing show out on-the-road to various areas across our patch to bring people a flavour of the local music scene.
Ìý
Every month, we rock up at a different venue with a pile of microphones, cables and recording equipment along with several vans full of enthusiastic musicians!

As well as the bands being able to invite an audience, we also bring along a number of music industry professionals to comment on the live acts.
Ìý
We tend to host our sessions on evenings/weekends is because it's normally a quiet time for venues - so effectively you get a free gig curated with the best bands (from the thousands who have submitted their music to us), full tech provided, plusÌýÌý- so effectively you just need to open your doors!
