The Conservative MP for Plymouth Moor View told the World at One his party needs to "present an option to this country to meet the challenges of a modern Britain."

Asked about the leadership of his party Johnny Mercer said: 鈥淭here are lots of capable colleagues who I鈥檓 sure could do the job."

But he added: "It鈥檚 not about an individual."
